initial appointment
New clients to Core Pilates Studio need to complete an initial one-on-one assessment with a Pilates Instructor before commencing their prescribed Pilates programme. This assessment includes a personalised health screen and postural analysis, as well as an explanation of the principles and benefits of the STOTT PILATES method. At the end of the 55 minute session, the instructor sets a very personalised program to ensure the client will get the most out of their Core Pilates Studio experience.
what happens after my initial private appointment?
After the initial one-on-one assessment, clients can then choose to book private appointments with an instructor, or alternatively move into a group session which can be shared with two other clients (please note clients book individually).
what to expect for future ‘studio’ appointments?
Each studio session will be different from the previous, as you progress toward your goals and master the Pilates technique. In addition, the personalised nature of the training means that the program is constantly being tuned to your needs on the day and week to week. We realise there will be days where you are feeling fitter and stronger, and days where your body may be in some discomfort depending on your rehabilitative needs or physical fitness.
what is a reformer class?
A reformer class is a group class of up to four clients who practice the same exercise at the same time on a specialised Pilates machine called the reformer. An instructor will cue a series of exercises which all clients execute at the same time. Prescription of exercise focuses on all over body conditioning, as well as postural and flexibility results. Although every participant in the class practices the same exercise at the same time, the instructor will tailor the spring intensity on the reformer machine to suit the individual needs of each client. Assistive props are also used when needed to ensure tension free set-up, to increase muscular challenge or release. Pilates jumpboards are used for cardio and alignment focus and boxes, spine corrector barrels, 1/2 arc barrels, balls, fitness circles, flexbands as well as other props are used to offer continual variety in choreography.
what do I wear?
Clients wear comfortable clothing, and socks are required to be worn throughout each session. Pilates toesox are available for purchase from the studio for $25 which are organic cotton with anti-slip grips on the sole which provide stability and can be worn throughout the entire session without any concern for slipping.
